World Book Day is fast approaching! Here is my favourite book from my childhood. What was yours?
My favourite childhood book is Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
I still have my original copy of it on a bookshelf at home, with its slightly scuffed and worn cover, and my name scrawled in pen on the inside.
I also have a new edition that my wife gave me a few years ago, still inside its wrapping.
My childhood copy has wonderful illustrations, on really smooth and glossy paper, which makes it feel somewhat luxurious.
I remember taking it with me every time my family holidayed in Cornwall; I would re-read it every summer.
I loved the adventure, and would sometimes imagine what I would have done if I were Jim; would I have been as brave as him? No, probably not.
Long John Silver was exciting and intriguing, but also terrifying at the same time.
