This is about our Little Free Library in Freeland, Oxfordshire, UK. This community project was grant aided by West Oxfordshire District Council.
When we set up the Little Free Library in our village, we were unsure of what the reaction might be. In the United States, Little Free Libraries are a familiar concept, but here in the UK they are not as widely recognized. We had to explain how this kind of free book exchange works: we wrote articles in the village newsletter, contacted local media, and set up facebook and twitter accounts to help spread the word.
Our community has quickly embraced the Little Free Library; it is used everyday, with books being constantly taken and donated. In fact, we now have more books than when we started! This free book exchange is a big hit in our village, with both children and adults using it regularly.
